Watch the files count of a dir on Linux with Zabbix.
In EDI based communications you often have a dir where EDI files get saved and wait for processing. Every now and then these processes don’t work and the file count grows. Of course this is only one example, but it’s often handy to have a trigger fire, when a certain folder has more than X files in it.

Sometimes you face the problem, that a software vendor depends on logged on user sessions, instead of windows services. We had the case, that a partner constantly complained, that we logged of his service user. To have a history about the logged on state, I added a Zabbix item through the possibility to add custom UserParameter. The CMD line utility qwinsta is able to check if a specific user is logged on.

Durch unsere Kunden weite Migration weg von XenServer und SEP Sesam, hin zu VMware und Veeam, wurde es interessant mit Hilfe der PowerShell Befehle für Veeam den Backup Status zu überwachen. Heute wurde das Open Source Monitoring System Zabbix in der Version 2.4.0 veröffentlicht. Wir haben Zabbix bei uns in der Firma bereits seit der Version 1.8 versuchsweise eingesetzt. Seit der Version 2.0 nutzen wir es über das Proxy System bei jedem Kunden.
Ich denke wir werden erstmal noch eine Weile bei der Version 2.2.x bleiben, da es sich um eine LTS Version handelt. So viel ich auch von Zabbix halte, bisher waren die ersten Releases recht buggy, von daher warte ich selbst erstmal Zabbix 2.4.1 oder 2.4.2 ab. Zabbix 2.2 läuft seit der Version 2.2.5 sehr gut.
